Ken brings diverse experience in community and hospital pharmacy, industry and associations to the University of Waterloo. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA), and prior to that he was the Director, Research and Analysis, for Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D). Ken is a licensed pharmacist, who earned his professional degree from the University of Toronto. As Director, Admissions, Professional Relations & Undergraduate Affairs. Ken takes a leadership role in all activities related to student recruitment, undergraduate admissions, and the accreditation process. He initiates and develops formal linkages with professional associations, and participates in curriculum development.

Barb has worked in a variety of areas across the UW campus, most recently in Biology and the Faculty of Engineering. Her 30 years of experience range across the full breadth of administrative responsibilities, including finance, staff management, project management and faculty support. In the School of Pharmacy, Barb is responsible for developing and managing the administrative structure to support both the academic and non-academic activities of the School. She manages the Pharmacy budget, hires and supervises staff, and provides support to the building committee.

Sarah is the Graduate Administrator for the School of Pharmacy. She has a BA (Hons, Criminology) from the University of Melbourne and has previously worked as an administrator in grants and human research ethics for the University of Melbourne, in admissions for the Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia (based at Vancouver General Hospital) and most recently in reception/administration for Counselling Services at the University of Waterloo. In the School of Pharmacy, Sarah is responsible for all aspects of administration for the graduate program including processing admissions and answering enquiries, processing scholarship and award nominations, Teaching Assistantship applications and graduate student payroll, creating and maintaining the graduate website content, coordinating the School Graduate Committee and providing support to our students in a variety of areas.

Gayle arrived at the School of Pharmacy from a broad and extensive career in healthcare and business management. Working in the public and private sectors, her career path has taken her through roles in operations, project management, consulting and marketing and business development. As a registered nurse, she received her BSc from Adam Smith University, New York and her MBA from Queen’s University, Kingston. She is registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and sits on the board of Hospice of Waterloo Region. As a strategic and innovative leader, she will build the Continuing Professional Education department to support the academic reputation of the School of Pharmacy.

Steve has a B.A. in Commerce from the University of Toronto and a Certifcat en Français Langue Seconde from Laval University in Quebec City / Université d'Aix-Marseiile II in Provence, France. He spent 6 years in Tokyo, Japan where he incorporated his own business. Upon returning to Canada in the 90's he obtained his Certified Help Desk Manager designation and has been in the I.T. field now for 20 years with such companies as Pacific Link (Tokyo), Hewlett Packard and a long stint at Universal Studios in Toronto.

Elaine Lillie started her working life as a high school teacher, teaching English and Theatre Arts in Waterloo County. After 4 years, she decided to leave the classroom for a career in business. After earning an MBA from York University, Elaine began a 25+ year business career where she held increasingly senior positions in the sales and marketing of technology services to commercial clients. She has been a Director at both CIBC and RIM. Elaine also has experience in the social service sector. She was an Executive Director at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kitchener-Waterloo during the period of transition where the two agencies became one.

Elaine has a passion for both teaching and communication. Throughout her working life, she has had personal responsibility for, and led teams of people that have created training and communication initiatives that have consistently exceeded clients’ expectations.

In 2002, Elaine became a member of the part-time faculty at Wilfrid Laurier University where she teaches courses in Business Communication at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Elaine is delighted to join the School of Pharmacy. She looks forward to working with faculty, staff and students in creating Communication and Interprofessional programs that are innovative and genuinely focused on graduating patient-centered pharmacists.

Lisa is a full-time instructor/senior lab demonstrator at The University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy.  My main role is within the Professional Practice Course years 1 – 3 and co-coordinator of the professional practice labs.  I have been with the University for 4 years and bring over 10 years of teaching experience.  I have been in the pharmacy field for over 25 years.  I have been involved with writing curriculum for the Pharmacy Technician Programs and I also teach for  Sheridan College with the bridging program for the Regulated Status.  I have an extensive back ground in teaching and also in both retail and hospital settings.  I am a certified Red Cross CPR & First Aid Instructor and I sit on the  Regional Educational Outreach Committee with Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians.

Josephine joined the School of Pharmacy at the end of 2008 as the Pharmaceutics Course/Lab instructor. Before that she was the Undergraduate Organic Chemistry Lab Instructor for 4 years in the Department of Chemistry, also at the University of Waterloo.  In this position she was responsible for six undergraduate Organic Chemistry lab courses per year. Josephine holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (1999) and specialization in Industrial Pharmacy (2000) both from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and a Masters of Science degree in Organic Chemistry (2004) from the University of Waterloo. In her current position at the School of Pharmacy, Josephine is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the laboratory components of the Pharmaceutics I and II courses and she is the coordinator and instructor in the Advanced Compounding elective course. She has extensive experience in non-sterile extemporaneous compounding and dosage form design, physical pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology.

Olla Wasfi is the Medical Microbiology Course/Lab Instructor at the School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo. Olla is responsible for the design and delivery of the Medical Microbiology I and II courses and she is the coordinator and instructor of the Global Infectious Diseases Management elective course. She also coordinates Seminars in Pharmacy 3.

Before joining the school, she was in charge of the Premarital Screening Laboratory in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Prior to this, she was a lecturer of Microbiology and Community Medicine in the High Institute of Public Health, Egypt and in Dubai Medical and Pharmacy Colleges, UAE.

Her professional experience, which included teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students and the supervision of a Diagnostic Microbiology Laboratory, has focused on the diagnosis of bacteria and viruses by the use of different diagnostic techniques. She obtained her doctorate degree in the field of Public Health Sciences in Microbiology from the High Institute of Public Health, Egypt, studying different conventional and recent techniques in the diagnosis of bacterial meningitis with emphasis on Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Olla has been involved with designing and writing curriculum for Postgraduate Microbiology Programs. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Quality Management from the University of Wollongong, Australia.

Lisa joined the University Of Waterloo School Of Pharmacy in late 2010. Her main role is the first year human systems course where she coordinates the anatomy, physiology, and histology labs and delivers some of the lectures. She completed her Master’s in Anatomical Sciences at Queen’s University where she further developed the skill set required to teach at a post secondary institution and her passion for the human body.

Lorna joins the School of Pharmacy team as the Administrative Coordinator for Experiential Learning and Curriculum. Lorna has been at the University of Waterloo since 2008. She was the Administrative Coordinator for Graduate Studies in Chemical Engineering and prior to that worked in the Faculty of Engineering office. Lorna’s background is in medical administration, having worked in the Guelph medical community for 18 years prior to coming to Waterloo. Lorna holds a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University in Anthropology and Archaeology.
